June 27-29, 2019 | Detroit Foundation Hotel & Cobo Center

We're pleased to offer a group rate of $239 per night at the luxurious Detroit Foundation Hotel, 250 West Larned Street, Detroit. This trendy, boutique hotel that was once Detroit's fire department headquarters bridges the past and the present, signaling a true renaissance and representing all this great city has to offer.

We have rooms blocked on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, as we have an earlier start time on Thursday morning than we have during past Forums. Please make your reservation online or by calling 313.800.5500 by June 6, 2019.

The Forum program will be held across the street from the hotel at the Cobo Center, the 17th largest convention center in the United States.

Additional Featured Speakers

unnamedJim Yunker, a co-founder of APC in the mid-1990s, will speak with us about surviving recessions. As a consultant, he has done so through three, including the big bad one from 2007-2009. Jim is a founder of Smith, Beers, Yunker, which operated in the U.S. and the U.K. for more than 25 years and more recently of The Yunker Group, based in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has been a member of Giving Institute but still thinks of APC as "home base" for smaller consultancies.

unnamed 1Jonathan Hui will speak about community engagement and foundations, on behalf of The Kresge Foundation. He is a program officer at there supporting the Detroit Program’s work in early childhood and neighborhood development.

unnamed 2Melissa Brown has been asked to present on Giving USA and the Nonprofit Research Collaborative, two important data sources for understanding fundraising and donor trends. She is likely to veer into other topics as well, such as the Philanthropy Panel Study, which released new data recently about 2017 giving by households.

We have conference-session length presentations from our Affiliate Partners, Market Smart and Donor Search, to give each of our members a chance to dig deeply into these products and how they can benefit our clients.
