Founded in 1983, The Sheridan Group is a full-service fundraising consulting firm based in Arlington, Virginia.  Over the past three decades, the firm has served more than 225 clients, planning and/or managing campaigns which have raised more than $2.0 billion.  The Sheridan Group provides philanthropic counsel to organizations in all areas of the non-profit arena, including: associations and their related foundations, higher education and independent schools, healthcare, arts and culture, social services, and faith-based organizations. 


President David M. Coyne, CFRE, purchased the firm from Founder Nelson Cover Jr. in 2013.  In addition, the firm has four other principals.  Prior to joining The Sheridan Group in 2003, Dave held positions with the Kappa Sigma Endowment Fund, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (then National Society of Fundraising Executives) Foundation for Philanthropy and Marymount University.  He maintains membership in the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), the Association Foundation Group (AFG) and the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and has maintained his CFRE (Certified Fund-Raising Professional) credential since 1996.


Vice President Jeff Hale joined the firm in 2012, after holding increasingly more senior development positions over a dozen years with the National Gallery of Art, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Ford’s Theatre and the Global Alliance for Arts & Health.
